2The Big Decision
In June 2003, Myk and I decided to drive to
Winnipeg.
- Why?
- Because we could!
- So we packed up our tent and
- sleeping bags, cooler and frisbee
3And headed off
- We left on Friday the 13th, after work.
-
- The date did not bode well, but we were
optimistic!
4We drove through BC along Highway 5
We camped and ate at diners across the province,
and kept driving East
5Through the Rockies to Calgary!

After three uneventful days staying with family
in Calgary, it was time to strike out on our own
6So we drove to Drumheller! Home of
- The Worlds
- Largest Dinosaur
- Hoodoos!
- Amazing
- thunderstorms
But we hadnt seen anything yet

7In Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, SK, we
had a REAL storm
- .
- We had to
- Stop canoeing
- Hide in the Ranger Station for an hour without
power - Give up on camping
- Get the LAST hotel room in the park
- And
- .
8realize that our poor little Civic had received
thousands of dollars in hail damage!
But there was nothing to do but soldier on
9To the family farm Moosomin, Saskatchewan
We stayed on the farm for three idyllic days,
wandering around, riding horses, and
10Going to the
Circus!
- A real, live, scary circus came to town,
complete with elephants, tigers, and unhappy
South American immigrants (Really, it was more
depressing than fun)
Though we didnt want to, we left the farm the
next day
11Success! Winnipeg!
- No offense to anyone from Winnipeg, but as soon
as we got there, we wanted to leave - We went to Portage Main, the windiest
intersection in Canada. - We stayed less than 24 hours before heading back
West.
12We spent one quick night in Saskatoon, a city I
never thought I would love, but did
- After a week of prairies, it was nice to see a
wide river and lots of trees!
13We continued on to small-town Alberta and spent
four days with Myks cousins, where
- We spent two days in a really hot church
- We fished and watched someone try to shoot a
beaver! - And Myk petted a calf!
- ..
14By this time we were almost due back at work, so
we booted it home in two days.
- We drove down the Icefields Parkway between
Jasper and Banff. - We stayed one night in the exciting town of
Revelstoke!

Icefields Parkway.
15We arrived home safe!
- With only 6600 in damage done to the car by the
hail and the deer we clipped. (Oh, didnt I
mention the deer? It lived, or so I like to
believe) - Elliott was glad to see us home, and thankful for
the snack of dead bugs.
Yum!
mmm hot bugs fresh off the grille!
The End!
