Holocaust Experiences
  • A former soldier named Charles V. Ferre has
written a little passage that was on the web,
that really caught my eye. He talked about his
time in Germany during the war in 1941. He also
mentioned about a time when him and other
soldiers went into some camps and were astonished
at what they saw. Bodies with just skin on them,
bones and everything just hanging out. Kids
running around looked like they were made out of
just bones because they were so malnourished.

Adolph Hitler
  • Hitler
  • Was born on April 20,1889.
  • His father died on January 3, 1903.
  • His mother died on December 21, 1907.
  • He was homeless in Vienna from 1909-1913.
  • At around 1920 Hitler made his first real speech
    in a beer cellar.
  • He did a very good job.
  • He was elected into the Nazi party and adopts the
    Swastika flag.
  • In 1921 Hitler was named leader of the Nazi party.

5
Time Line of the Nazi.
  • Rise of the Nazi Party (1918-1933). During the
fourteen years following the end of World War I,
the Nazi party grew from a small political group
to the most powerful party in Germany.
  • Nazification (1933-1939). Once Hitler became
Chancellor and later Reichsführer, the Nazi party
quickly changed Germany's political, social, and
    economic structure.
  • The Ghettos (1939-1941). Confining Jews to
ghettos was another critical step in Hitler's
    Final Solution.
  • The Camps (1941-1942). The concentration camps
were Hitler's final step in the annihilation of
    the Jews.
  • Resistance (1942-1944). People resisted by any
means possible, from stealing a slice of bread to
    sabotaging Nazi installations.
  • Rescue and Liberation (1944-1945). Some survived
through the heroics of neighbors others were
    liberated by the Allies.
  • Aftermath (1945-2000). After the war, Nazi
perpetrators faced punishment for their war
crimes and survivors began rebuilding their lives

6
Who Were the Liberators
  • A liberator is a person who frees one who is held
captive. The most common Liberators were the
American troops who fought the Germans, then
freed the prisoners. Unfortunately many prisoners
    were killed.

7
About the Concentration Camps
  • The concentration camps are
  • Where the Jews and other prisoners were held
    captive.
  • Some prisoners were just sent to suffer in the
camps as others were slaughtered in
    Extermination Camps.
  • As seen on this map, there are around twenty
    camps.
  • The most common people found in these camps were
    Jews.

8
Hiding Jews
  • People who were non Jews, that had Jewish friends
would help the Jews and hide them. If the Nazi
army found the Jews in hiding, then they would be
shot on the spot as shown in the picture.

9
Why Jews
  • There is no rational explanation why Hitler
killed Jews and half Jews. He is just said to
have wanted Germany to be a better nation, and to
do that he didnt want any Jews.

10
Released Liberated Prisoners Give Thanks
  • After being set free from the Concentration
Camps, the released Liberated Prisoners rejoice
and give thanks to the United States Army. In
this picture the prisoners are proudly waving
    their homemade American flag.
