EXTRA, EXTRA Read All About It!
  • An extremely horrific event has just occurred.
    The Nazis, under control of Hitler are taking
    over. They are exterminating people, not for who
    they are, but for what they are. This is known
    as The HOLOCAUST.
  • You, as my employees of the World Wide Gazette
    have a job to do. I am requiring you to create a
    Newspaper that contains stories, factual
    artifacts, pictures, and or anything that has to
    do with this terrible tragedy.

  • 4 Groups/ Newspapers
  • 5 Students to Each Group
  • 1 Student Editor/ Group Leader
  • 2 Students Reporters/ Investigators
  • 2 Students Writers/ Publishers
  • Holocaust Vocabulary Worksheet
  • Individual Work
  • Daily Journal
  • Individual Work

The Process
  • The Newspaper
  • The students are going to create a Newspaper to
    help them learn more about The Holocaust.
  • The Newspaper will include
  • A Title
  • Photos/ Pictures
  • One BIG Story and at Least 2 Other Stories
  • 10 Factual Events/ Artifacts
  • Once The Newspapers are complete, the groups will
    briefly present their Newspaper and leave it for
    the other groups to look at and read.
  • Members of the Group
  • Editor
  • This student is responsible for leading his/ her
    group. This person MUST help with anything that
    his/ her other group members need. This person
    also needs to make sure that everything is in
    order and complete.
  • Reporters
  • These 2 students are to find information that
    occurred during the Holocaust that would help
    create good stories.
  • Writers
  • These 2 students are to use the information that
    the Reporters found and create stories from that
    information.
  • Every group member is to help with putting the
    Newspaper together including a title for the
    Newspaper, designing pictures, and anything else
    that needs to be done for this project to make it
    creative.

    Worksheet to help them understand some unknown
    words that they will come across throughout this

  • The students will write in their journals about
    what has happened each day throughout this
    process, what new facts they learned, or anything
    interesting about this experience.

The Conclusion
  • The Holocaust was a horrible tragedy that
    occurred. I hope that with this project you, the
    students, learned valuable information that you
    never knew. I hope not only did you learn about
    The Holocaust, but you also learned about an
    important and tragic time in history.
