2Weather is what the air is like outside.
3How do you know what to wear each day?
- Do you know because your parents tell you what to
wear or is there another reason for your choice?
4- Which outfit would you wear if it was snowing
outside?
Which would you choose on a hot, sunny day?
5- How can we make sure that we are prepared for the
weather?
6The weather report is done throughout the day on
TV and radio news programs. It is also in the
newspaper and on the internet.
7People who study and report on the weather are
called meteorologists.
- Meteorologists have special tools to help them
track weather patterns.
8They can measure how much rain has fallen by
using a rain gauge.
9A weather vane can tell which direction the wind
is blowing.
10An anemometer tells how fast the wind blows.
11A thermometer tells if the temperature is hot or
cold.
12There are many types of weather.
13Sometimes weather is more severe...and we need to
be more careful.
14Thunderstorms are fun to watch from a safe place.
15Hurricanes are very large storms that can
sometimes be dangerous.
16Too much rain can cause a flood.
17Too little rain can cause a drought.
18A tornado is another form of severe weather.
