Reasons for change

• Tours- staff intensive
• Less interesting for students
• No interaction
• Difficulty with larger numbers
• Difficult to measure effectiveness

Aims

• To improve the induction experience for the
  students
• To make induction fun and slightly light-hearted

The Science Team would advocate PRS because

• It enables students to communicate with us whilst
  remaining anonymous however shy and retiring
  they may be they can still join in
• Its fun and improves the image of librarians and
  libraries!
• Students are looking at the screen not the
  presenter props are good!

• Provides opportunities for us to make our talks
  reactive what we say depends on their responses
• It enables staff to gauge student opinion of the
  library and our induction
• We get to play at being stand up comics
• (students love prizes if a million isnt
  available Wagamama vouchers will do)

• That initially you have a colleague with you to
  set up, press buttons, troubleshoot with handsets
  and hand out leaflets.
• To check out the space and facilities you will be
  using beforehand
• To set up equipment in advance if possible
• You will need to book the equipment
• Ensure you practice first
