What is Supportive Living?
  • A sensible solution to the growing need for
    affordable housing with services
  • Available to seniors or younger persons with
    disabilities
  • Combines apartment-style housing with personal
    care, support services and opportunities for
    socialization
  • Administered through the Illinois Department of
    Healthcare and Family Services (IDHFS)

A Supportive Living Resident Profile
  • Supportive living residents are typically 65 or
    older
  • All must be able to participate in their own care
  • Their health needs do not require 24-hour care
  • Their needs for support services vary
  • Some may require help with meals and housekeeping
  • Others need medication assistance or help with
    daily activities
  • Some benefit from the social and wellness
    aspects
  • Or any combination thereof

  • Assisted living tends to be more costly
  • Assisted living does not accept payment from
    Medicaid

    in Supportive Living without worry about payment
