14POLICY UPDATEU.S. Seniors in the Match
- Ensuring that all of its programs that offer
positions to senior US allopathic students are
enrolled in the NRMP, and that all such programs
select senior US allopathic students only through
the Matching Program. If any position is offered
to US students outside the Matching Program, the
institution will be in material breach of this
Agreement and may suffer the penalties described
in Section 9.0. - Teaching hospitals that register any program in
the Matching Program agree to select senior
students of US allopathic medical schools for all
of their programs only through the Matching
Program.

Residency Match
- programs are expected to provide complete
and accurate information to interviewees,
including the contract the applicant would be
expected to sign if matched to the program and
all institutional policies regarding eligibility
for appointment to a residency position. This
information must be communicated to interviewees
in writing prior to the rank order list
certification deadline. It is recommended that
each program obtain a signed acknowledgement.

Participation
- Programs must meet one of the following criteria
- Be accredited by the ACGME
- Be affiliated with an ACGME-accredited program in
the primary discipline - Lead to certification by an ABMS-recognized board

- All waiver requests must be reported to and
approved by the NRMP. - A vacancy may be filled only after NRMP grants a
waiver. - NRMP determines if a violation occurred.
- Programs may not knowingly offer positions to
applicants who matched elsewhere.
