Title: E3 and General Convention

1
E3 and General Convention
  • WHY WE ARE HERE
  • you are here to represent yourself, not all the
youth of the church (please dont think you can
    speak for them)
  • you are here to present a professional and
dignified image of young people in the church, to
prove that young people can enter fully into the
    governing councils of the church.
  • You are here to show dioceses that young people
can and should be included in the regular
    selection of deputies process

2
  • Expectations You Yourself
  • The following guidelines are given for these
    reasons
  • We want you to be seen and heard in the General
Convention environment. You will not be well
received if you dont look and act the role that
    adults expect of you.
  • You are trailblazing for those who come after
you. If the deputies and Bishops see how well
prepared and mannered you are, they will be more
apt to include young people in future
    Conventions.
  • We want you to look better than people will
expect. By wearing a tie or dress, you will look
better than many deputies and even some Bishops.
This alone will send an important message to the
church. If you are taking care of yourself as
well, we can all leave a lasting and positive
    impression on this community.

What Issues do You Care About?
  • YOUR ISSUES
  • Lets make a list
  • What are you passionate about? What is happening
in your world that the church is or could be
    doing something about?
  • Prioritize your list
  • Discuss your list, why are the items important?
What do they mean to you?
  • Research resolutions in the Blue Book that
    address anything on your list.
  • What Committee would these issues be discussed
    in?
  • Be prepared to ask E3 staff about resolution
hearings locations and time when you arrive.
  • Take notes, and make sure to talk with your
deputation so they know how you feel about an
issue. If it is addressed in hearing before or
after E3, they are your best source to voice
concerns or speak to a resolution.
