What is the Humberside Diversity Panel?
  • A critical friend for all of the Criminal
    Justice Agencies in Humberside
  • Police, Crown Prosecution Service, Youth
    Offending Teams, Probation Service, Courts. Hull,
    Everthorpe and Full Sutton Prisons.

Humberside Diversity Panel
  • Formed in January 2003
  • Response to Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000
  • A Criminal Justice System resource
  • Funded by Humberside Criminal Justice Board
  • Managed by the National Probation Service
  • Funds a part time Administrator and Manager
  • The Diversity Panel comprises of fifteen members
    of the community from diverse backgrounds
  • Each have experience in a range of key diversity
    issues either through personal, academic or
    professional experience.

Role of the Panel Member
  • Ability to recruit and capacity build people from
    communities
  • Have unique access to targeted
  • communities
  • Play a pivotal role in developing the
    relationship between the Criminal Justice System
    services and the community acting as advocates,
    researchers, project developers, friendly face

What do they do?
  • Criminal Justice Agencies commission the Panel
    members to carry out 100 hours worth of
    consultation and guidance in diversity related
    work
  • Participation in 6 Consultation Meetings per year
  • Diversity advisors within recruitment and
    selection
  • Mentors to offenders from similar diverse
    backgrounds
  • Diversity advisors to CJS staff working with
    minority offenders
  • Full training and development programme
