Title: Athletics Assistants
1 Athletics Assistants
Help at the home football, volleyball,
basketball, track, and soccer games. They will
work the chains, be ball boys/girls, and help the
trainer with water. Students can help with away
games as long as parents sign appropriate
permission forms for students to travel with
team. Meets after school after the game on
game days.

2 Blanket Club
Blanket Club - Students learn to make blankets
for newborn babies. Blankets are donated to the
labor and delivery department of Parkland Medical
Center. Meets Tuesday afternoons from 4- 5 pm in
D306 starting mid October. 30 students maximum.

3 Book Club
Book Club - Students read books after school to
expand their imagination and participate in book
discussions. Students have read books such as,
"A Wrinkle in Time" and "Where the Red Fern
Grows. Meets Thursday starting mid October
from 4- 5pm in D102.

4 Tabula Digita
Tabula Digita is a math based gaming club.
Students will play and problem solve their way
through single player and multiplayer games.
Students may qualify to compete in district
Tabula Digita tournaments. Meets after school
once a week. Consistent attendance mandatory due
to limited licenses.

5 History Club
History Club - Students volunteer their time to
help with the preservation of DeWitt Perry Middle
School. Students will learn to do research and
create PowerPoints that will eventually be made
into a scrapbook and hopefully a video tour of
the history and development of DeWitt Perry
Middle School. Meets 2 Thursdays a month from
4-5 or 4-530 pm in C300. Requirement Student
must be enrolled in LEAP or PreAP History at any
grade level.

6 Green Team
Green Team - Students help the school and the
environment by collecting all recyclable
materials and distributing them where they
belong. Students also work on conservation of
electricity by monitoring the lights in the
school to make sure they are off when not being
used. Meets Wednesdays afterschool from 4 5 pm
C212 starting mid October. Requirements
willingness to help.

7 Fantasy Sports Club
Fantasy Sports Club - We will play Fantasy
Sports this year, starting with Football, other
sports later in the year. No experience needed.
We pick our players from real professional
athletes for the week, tally their scores after
they finish playing and cheer when we are a
winner! It should be lots of fun! Meet every
Thursday afternoon, starting mid October, from 4
5pm in Room B102 /Tutorials for student
athletes who cant meet afterschool will be on
Friday mornings from 8 830 am.

8 Fellowship of
Christian Athletes
FCA Students meet for devotionals and
companionship. The Fellowship of Christian
Athletes challenges coaches and athletes on the
professional, college, high school, junior high
and youth levels to use the powerful medium of
athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
FCA is the largest Christian sports organization
in America. FCA focuses on serving local
communities by equipping, empowering and
encouraging people to make a difference for
Christ. Meets Friday mornings (except 1st Friday
of the month) from 730 845 am in D108.

9 Geography Bee
Geography Bee Club-The Geography Bee Club is for
students with an interest in participating in the
Geography Bee. In this club, students will
prepare for the National Geographic Geography
Bee. Meets every other Thursday from 4-5 pm in
the library starting mid October.

10 Make Your Day Student
Committee
A small group of chosen 6th/7th/8th grade
students gather together to discuss the school
discipline program. Committee members suggest
and give their opinions on the way the program is
being implemented at DeWitt Perry Middle School.

11 Math Counts
Math Counts Students practice math problem
solving skills. It is open to anyone who enjoys
doing challenging math problems, and from this
club, students are selected to represent Perry at
the Regional Level of the National Mathcounts
competition. The national competition is shown on
ESPN every summer. Requirements Must like
challenging math problems and/or be in a PreAP
math course. Meets on Fridays from 4 5 pm in
C106 starting mid October.

12 Chess Club
Chess Club Chess club will meet on Monday
mornings before school. It is open to all
students who are interested in learning to play
chess. I will be teaching the pieces and moves
of each piece on the chess board as some basic
maneuvers while playing. I have plans to have a
chess tournament at the end of the school year as
with prizes for the winners. It should be fun
and stimulating at the same time.

13 National Junior Honor
Society
National Junior Honor Society - Students are
chosen to participate in the nation's premier
organization that was established to recognize
outstanding middle school level students. More
than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor
those students who have demonstrated excellence
in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service,
and Character and Citizenship.

Perry Growers - Students get involved in
gardening and the natural world. Activities
include, plant propagation, indoor gardening,
herb and vegetable gardening, bulbs and tubers,
plant taxonomy, annual and perennials, water
gardens, and attracting butterflies and birds.

Spelling Bee Club- The Spelling Bee Club is for

16 Student Council
The purpose of this organization is to provide
leadership for student government to promote a
good student-teacher relationship to provide an
opportunity for student expression to develop
attitudes of and practice in good citizenship
and to promote harmonious relations throughout
the entire year. Students participate in
planning and preparing for the two school dances
and selling different products for different
holidays. Student council prepares the talent
show at the end of the year and organizes
activities for Red Ribbon Week, where the campus
celebrates being drug free.

17 UIL
University Interscholastic League (UIL)
Competition Students participate and compete in
a variety of subjects from public speaking,
spelling to math counts. The student sign up for
the subject they would like to participate in and
then attend a number of practice sessions. In
December, students compete against the other
middle school students in the district in the
variety of areas. Meets the following dates
Info meeting Sept. 15th/Tryouts Sept. 21-Sept.
25th In Library/First Practice Oct. 7th (plus
regular practices once student placement on teams
are determined). Requirements Must compete in
Dec. 10th competition.
