Title: ADVISOR COMPETENCIES

1
ADVISOR COMPETENCIES Results of the NACURH
Advisor Survey Presented by Richard DeShields,
PACURH Advisor NACURH 2008Oklahoma State
University
2
Purpose of the Survey
The Regional Advisors within the NACURH
Organization met at the Semi-Annual Conference in
January 2008 to discuss the roles of the regional
advisors within the NACURH Organization and to
assist in planning training for Advisor-U at
NACURH 2008 at Oklahoma State University. One of
the topics that arose was the function of the ART
program within NACURH and the coordination of the
program to ensure that training aimed at advising
students within the NACURH organization continued
and continually met the need of the advisors. In
addition, we discussed advisor training at the
conferences and how we could better meet the
needs of our advisors. The survey was crafted by
the Regional Advisors and the National Office
Advisors and was hosted at Central Washington
University. The survey was distributed by the
regional advisors to the advisors in their
regions.
