Roadmap to Private Radio Network System
  • Spotwave is able to modify the SpotCell 163/263
product to be configured for 800 MHz Trunking
    Systems in the SMR band
  • A new software load will support 800 MHz trunking
for private radio and public safety networks in
    the SMR band
  • Customers can load up to 20 specific channels of
their private trunk radio network and program the
    units
  • Self Configured at the customer site, via the
SpotCell Viewer Port and new software release

Advantages of our Adaptive Technology for
Private Radio Networks
  • Isolation Measurement
  • Allows operation with constant gain margin not
    constant gain
  • Transparent to network changes
  • Immune to environmental changes (e.g., opening
    exterior doors)
  • Installation Alignment
  • Provides feedback during installation
    (donor antenna alignment)
  • Adjacent band power detection
  • Monitors signal strength
  • Intelligent Gain Control
  • Compensates for cable loss
  • Overload protection
  • Uplink power management
  • Coverage area optimization

8
FCC Re-Banding Timelines
  • Currently the networks are in the planning
    negotiation phase
  • The TA organization reviews all request for
re-banding and decides on funding along with
    coordination between the IDEN carriers
  • The planning process has begun
  • The final re-tune should be completed in 2008,
    based on region

9
FCC Re-Banding Pre
  • The most obvious reason for re-banding is the
    interference caused by interleaved networks

10
FCC Re-Banding Post
  • The re-banding should be thought of as a
    re-shuffle
  • All of the carriers (channels) will simply move
within the same space and not out of or to other
    spectrum

11
167 267 Target Customer Base
  • Integrate into White Radio, Tessco and all Master
    Vars
  • Educate all existing VARS direct and indirect
    to new partners
  • Use the resources like the one attached to sign
new VARS which are interested in expanding into
    Cellular/PCS
  • Distribution Targets
  • Top Motorola Dealers US.DOC
  • End Customer Targets
  • APCO type professionals
  • Private trunked radio network owners Utilities,
    Fleet management
  • FCC Database of these types of network licensees
  • (LINK to Connies spreadsheet)

12
167 267 Qualifying a Customer
  • Ask all potential customers these questions in
order to align their network with our equipments
    abilities.
  • The channels you use in this area, do they fall
with in the 851MHz to 866Mhz range?
  • Are the channel typical 25MHz wide?
  • Is this a truncked radio network?
  • Do you operation less than 20 channels in this
    area?
  • If the answer to question two is 12.5Mhz asked
them if this is narrow band or some type of split
    channel spacing.
  • Narrow band is just that they have two channels
right next to each other jammed into the 25MHz.
    THIS WILL WORK.
  • Split channel they actually put the 12.5 right in
the center of the 25MHz. THIS WILL NOT WORK.

13
Part Number and Pricing
  • Spotcell 167 104-00000-TR-01
  • 3995 list price

14
Product Management Integration
  • Product Management will need to incorporate the
    following into production
  • Integrate the SW load for the CU at the factory
  • Integrate the Viewer SW into the package
  • Integrate the cable and instruction manual into
    the packaging
  • Integrate the part number into CRM if not already

15
Disclaimers
  • This product is designed to support up to 10
specific channels for a private trunked radio
    network programmed by the customer
  • Coverage area will be determined by multiple
factors including strength of signal received
from the network, construction materials, and
    location of Spotwave equipment.
