- Mums are a Homecoming Tradition
- Students wear them to school the day of the HC
game to the HC game - Girls wear a single, double or triple silk mum
- Boys wear a regular or super garter silk mum

- If the student has a date, typically the guy buys
the girls mum and the girl buys the guys
garter - Students can buy their own mum
- Some groups of friends draw names to buy mums for
each other - Parents can buy mums for their children

- How much do mums cost?
- Basic girls mum starts at 30 (underclassmen) or
35 (upperclassmen) - Basic guys garter starts at 25 (underclassmen)
or 30 (upperclassmen) - Most want added ribbons charms
- Expect to spend around 65 for girls and 50 for
guys

- You can put a 25 deposit down on your mum/garter
- You can pay in full
- Checks should be written to SLHS Band Boosters
- How do I pick up my mum?
- Someone from the Mum Shoppe will call you when it
is complete to give you directions

- Overalls are a tradition for girls to help hold
the heavy mum - Many girls have their overalls decorated in
Spartan colors and symbols - Girls wear the overalls and mums to school on
Homecoming Friday and to the HC game
9Homecoming Parade Pep RallyWednesday, October
1, 700 p.m.
- Your child should check with his clubs/groups
about decorating a float - Floats and groups line up on Gaston Road at Fry
Road - Parade travels down Fry Road and ends along
Spartan Way (behind the school) - Homecoming Pep Rally begins immediately after the
parade at the SLHS football field - Homecoming King is announced at the pep rally
10Homecoming GameFriday, October 3, 700 p.m.
- Be sure to buy your tickets early (during lunch
periods the week of the game) - Guys wear their garters, Girls wear their mums
and overalls (to school and the game) - Homecoming Queen is announced during half-time
11Homecoming DanceSaturday, October 4
- The Homecoming Dance is the main fundraiser for
the SLHS Student Council - Theme A Night in the Wild
- Time 800 1100 p.m.
- No one admitted after 945 p.m.
- Tickets will be sold at the door for 15 each or
25 per couple - Checks (payable to SLHS with a drivers license
number) or cash are accepted - Refreshments will be provided for free

- Dates from other high schools are okay
- All students must have a valid student ID to gain
entry - College-aged dates will be asked to show ID to
gain entry - NO DATES FROM JUNIOR HIGH!
- If you would like to volunteer to work at the

- Picture information will be made available to
students a week before the dance - Payment must be made to the photographer,
Hathcock Photography - Bring enough cash or a check to pay for the
picture package you want - Pictures will be delivered to the student who
ordered during lunch after the dance

- No bare midriffs or cutouts
- Backs may not be lower than the waist

fun and express yourself. - A simple bun is a classic.
- Naturally curly hair can be set with gel products
to hold. - Simple and straight is always elegant.
- A simple heirloom is beautiful around a simple
ponytail or knot. - Add clip-on or add-on hair to match your own
(Sallys Beauty Supply). - Make note of what works and what doesnt for the
next occasion!

- DATE OR GROUP?
- Students DO NOT have to have a date to go to the
dance - Even students who have a date can go with a group
- Most groups are mixed with some students who have
dates and some who do not - Parents of those in the group can meet to
determine dinner plans, transportation and after
party plans - Be sure to share phone numbers
- Most parents feel more comfortable when they
meet their childs friends parents

- Make reservations at a restaurant for your
childs friends - Make them earlythere are lots of groups out
there! - Pre-order meals if possible

restaurant of choice

- Suggest the kids take their formal portraits

- A simple rule for dating my son
- I know how todays fashionable young woman
likes to dress. When my son brings you home to
meet us, if there are parts of your clothes that
allow parts of your anatomy to show, we will take
care of it before you leave. I have an extensive
supply of duct tape and super glue. You see, I
cant take the chance of an accident happening
when my sons eyes pop outhe will need them both
for medical school. - A simple rule for dating my daughter
- If you pull into my driveway and honk, youd
better be delivering a package, because youre
sure as heck not picking anything up!
