Proposal for RAS Chapter of The Year Award

• Motivation
• To encourage RAS local chapters to serve their
  members.
• To establish a mechanism to obtain information on
  how local chapters are serving their members
• To make a bridge between RAS Chapters and RAS.
• Backgrounds
• This proposal is one of chapter supports
  suggested by IEEE and TAB.
• Some societies already have similar awards.
• CPMT, EMS, .

• Description
• To recognize the outstanding performance by a
  Chapter in serving its members.
• Prize
• 1,000 and Certificate.
• Funds
• The award will be sponsored by the IEEE Robotics
  and Automation Society.

Proposed Chapter of The Year Award

• Eligibility
• The chapter must have been active at least one
  year when the nomination is made.
• The eligibility requirements are outstanding
  activities and services to its local RAS members
  in one or more of the following areas technical
  meetings, tours and conferences, seminars or
  tutorials, other services and activities for the
  local members of RA Society .
• Basis for Judging
• Factors that will be considered are services to
  its members in the technical area and the
  educational area, membership advancements, senior
  member and fellow nominations, and membership
  development.

RAS Chapter of The Year Award

• Publicity and Schedule
• Announcement in RAS Magazine as well as on RAS
  WEB
• Nominations are due by March 15 to the Chair of
  Member Activities Board.
• The Award will be announced and presented in our
  annual IEEE International Conference on Robotics
  and Automation.
• Nomination
• The Member Activities Board will solicit
  nominations for the award. The nomination has to
  be made by the chapter representative.

Proposed Chapter of The Year Award

• Administration
• The Awards will be administered by the RAS Awards
  Committee based on the nomination from the Member
  Activities Board.
• Presentation
• One award per year will be given at the IEEE
  International Conference on Robotics and
  Automation.
• No award will be given if no qualified chapter is
  nominated.
