and driven by Gods Word. (208-9 239, 29).
Because of this, the people mocked Jeremiah

  • Jeremiah is the weeping prophet Jesus is also
known as the man of sorrows. Jesus wept over
Jerusalem much in the same way as did Jeremiah.
    (Matt. 1613-14)
  • Stephen repeated Jeremiahs charges against
Israel (619 926 Acts 751) which costs him
    his life.
  • Paul refers to Jeremiahs trip to the potters
house (18) as instruction about Gods sovereign
power in calling the Gentiles. (Rom. 920-24)

Ezekiel - Biography
  • Son of a priest, called to be a prophet during
the 5th year of Jehoiachins exile (592 B.C.
11-2), and prophesied until the 27th year of
    exile (571 B.C. 2917).
  • Instead of becoming a priest at age thirty (b/c
he was in exile), God makes him a prophet.
  • In his initial vision, Ezekiel sees God is his
    war-chariot decreeing and planning the
    destruction of Jerusalem (101-2, 18-22)

7
Ezekiel biography (2)
  • Ezekiel lived with exiles of the upper classes
that had not listened to the prophets in the
past. (23-8) They thought they would quickly
return to Jerusalem and reassume their positions
of wealth and influence. They rejected Ezekiels
    message (2049 3330-2).
  • God vindicated himself and his prophet. The
exile would be long and Jerusalem would be
    destroyed.
