Title: Blessed are you Lord our God who has given to each of us a personal destiny and purpose in life'

1
  • Blessed are you Lord our God who has given to
each of us a personal destiny and purpose in
    life.
  • We thank you God of mysterious ways that you have
a holy design for each of us.
  • We rejoice that we are special to you. That our
names are written in the palm of your hand and
our place in history, our purpose for existing,
    is known within your heart.
  • Blessed are you Lord for those events, persons,
talents and loves which have helped us to
    discover adventure, purpose, fruitfulness and
    meaning in our lives.
  • Blessed are you Lord our God, who has given to
each of us a personal destiny and purpose in
life. Pray for us as we embark upon that unique
path which you have set forth for each of us to
    do your work on earth.
  • Amen

  • Old Structure
  • PRISMS
  • New Structure
  • Whats Needed From Each of Us
  • Your Input

3
Parish Mission
  • Conscious of our human weakness, but empowered
by the presence of the Holy Spirit among us, we
pledge ourselves to this, the mission of Jesus
Christ. We are the Roman Catholic Community of
St. Petronille, Diocese of Joliet, a people of
prayer, Word and Sacrament. We strive to grow in
the awareness of Jesus presence in ourselves and
in each other, and so we respond to his call to
pray, to love, to serve, to forgive and to teach
    His Word to all people.

4
Role of the Parish Pastoral Council
  • Coordinating and unifying structure of the parish
    community
  • Means of achieving full participation in its
mission by giving all a voice in encouraging,
guiding and directing the various aspects of
    parish life
  • Parish in miniature
  • Members gather together the thoughts and ideas of
the community, work them together, until some
general agreement has been reached then
    translate them into parish goals.
  • Ensures that the goals are acted upon by the
    parish community.

5
Re-energizing our Parish Through Action
  • With communication and action as purpose
  • For the good of the members
  • For the good of the parish
  • For the good of the community
  • To work together to deal with issues and
    opportunities

6
Why Change?
  • We need a change in the way we are structured to
integrate our different areas and involve people
    in creating our parish community.
  • People bring a host of talents and skills we
need to tap into these more effectively to ensure
    the needed change.
  • We cannot improve by talking about it we need a
    process to make it happen.
  • Parish council is seeking to design a new
structure that will help St. Pets tap into the
congregation of talent and problem solvers and
open communication and a feeling of belonging.
  • We asked for feedback in the survey need to
demonstrate action toward hearing and doing
something about the feedback. People dont see
it/feel it. Need to demonstrate more action.

7
Why Now?
  • To date we have acted on the survey findings as
individual staff and ministries not utilizing
the common issues which permeate all parts of
    parish life.
  • People expect to have goals in their lives we
as the church community need goals. Not just as
individual ministries or groups but as parish.
  • We need a structure that integrates all of our
constituents for information and decision making.

People Want Action
  • The Parish survey told us that people want action
they told us what they need we asked and now
    must listen and act.
  • We must interpret and define the priorities.
  • These priorities define the first three Prisms
  • Stewardship
  • Communication
  • Spiritual Life
  • PRISMs will change as goals are met or other
    areas become of high priority.

Next Steps
  • Set up the new PRISMs
  • Fill parish council positions
  • Further develop the process and document the
standard operating procedures for each PRISM.

15
Re-energizing Parish Council
  • Stewardship is the offering and use of business
and personal talents St. Petronille needs us
  • St. Petronille is our community not someone
    else's
  • Open communication, true problem solving,
structural feedback and a sense of belonging
    builds strong community
  • We must have a collaborative, team structure to
    accomplish our goals together.

16
Whats Needed From Each of Us
  • Seek to understand and try on this new
    structure for parish council.
  • Step up to lead or follow pray on how you can
    be involved.
  • Help make this happen by identifying things that
are working or need to be changed as the
    structure begins to operate

17
In Summary
  • Council is broader/different make-up
  • All parish groups work toward shared goals at a
    high level
  • Offers a place and process to go to when a
project or idea needs to be addressed/explored.
  • Provides a stronger link to build our community.
