I. Language Component
  • Meet daily from 4-7 pm
  • Additional cultural and language instruction
  • Registration fee, tuition, and class materials
    included
  • 8 continuing education credits included
  • Additional CEUs with job shadow

  • Students will take an oral exam upon arrival and
    placed in beginners, intermediate or advanced.
    Students will also be introduced to the natural
    language method and self-assessment techniques to
    better put into practice classroom instruction.

  • Students are divided into groups of 2-8
    students. In an unusual circumstance of more than
    10 students in class, an assistant teacher will
    be assigned. If we have enough students at each
    level for our group, we will have private
    instruction to include only participants from our
    group. The groups will be for adults only.

  • Beginner and Intermediate students use CDs and
    course materials developed by the school.
    Advanced students will have a more tailored
    curriculum based around special objectives
    brought to the study program by the student.

Beginning Level developing practical and
survival language with the goal of accelerating
the students familiarization of the language.

  • 1.Listening activities at appropriate level
  • 2.Vocalization exercises
  • 3.Guided speaking activities
  • 4.Reading and translating

Intermediate Level working with more complex
language with a primary focus on speaking ,
reading, listening and translating. Writing will
be assigned as homework and correction will be
provided.

  • 2.Improve native listening skills
  • Method
  • 1.Dual language articles to read with topics
    relevant to the local culture, history and
    people.
  • 2.Class discussion about topics learned in class

Advanced Level studying more advanced grammar
with a focus on higher level readings of Spanish
and Latin American literary works.

  • Improve writing with literal and colloquial
    translations
  • Increase vocabulary and colloquialisms
  • Methods
  • 1. Complex writing exercises designed around
    literary works
  • 2. Use Spanish songs and discussion

  • Group Instruction
  • 6 additional hours depending on activities
    of group instruction by the group leader included
    in fee
  • Job Shadow
  • 10-20 hours in total during stay optional but
    included in fee
  • Types of Job Shadows
  • working in elementary school, working with
    adults, assisting with fundraiser, tutoring
    special needs kids, restaurant assistants,
    bookstore assistant, construction work, day care,
    companionship to elderly or a collaborative
    special job shadow

II. Home stay Program
  • 1-2 students per family in nice accommodations
    close to school and beach
  • Practice speaking with family members
  • Provide assistance with homework
  • 3 daily authentic Mexican meals included in fee

III. Excursions and Activities
  • All excursions are led or accompanied by Julie
    Liotta, group leader. The excursion included in
    the fee will be the 2 day excursion to Colima,
    Mexico.
  • Additional excursions will be arranged by Julie
    or the school that are optional and will not be
    included in the fee

IV. Transportation
  • Julie will organize all transportation ground
    and air from Milwaukee to La Manzanilla.
  • Every effort will be made to provide the easiest,
    most efficient transportation from Milwaukee to
    La Manzanilla.
  • Travel plans will be made for all participants
    regardless of length of stay.
  • After initial tickets are purchased, participants
    will be responsible for any additional costs
    incurred for changes.

V. Personal Expenses
  • Expenses you may incur on your own would be for
    taxis or additional transport, laundry,
    souvenirs, telephone/internet, beverages or food
    not included in the 3 meals a day.
