  • SACS-COC Visiting Team will interview students
    regarding the QEP
  • Please make sure your students understand the
    following
  • What is the QEP?
  • Whats the title of CTCs QEP?
  • What is the main goal of the QEP?
  • What is the students role in the QEP?

  • Provide feedback through surveys and focus groups
  • Participate in the measurement process
  • Experience the intervention (Spring 2005)
  • Provide intervention feedback
  • Serve on the QEP Core Committee (selected
    students)
  • Read the QEP FOCUS Newsletter

Fall 2004
  • Each unit will implement a baseline measurement
  • All instructional units have chosen
  • Pre-/Post-tests
  • Each faculty member will choose at least one
    class to administer tests
  • Pre-testduring first week of class
  • Post-testduring last week of class

Pre-/Post-Tests
  • Items on course pre-/post-tests must be from the
    course learning objectives
  • Items should address all levels of questions at a
    similar rate as learning objectives
  • Knowledge
  • Application
  • Synthesis
  • Analysis
  • Evaluation

Pre-/Post-Tests
  • Items on pre-test should be same items or same
    level items as on the post-test
  • Each faculty member is responsible for
  • Pre-/post-test scores
  • Average of Fall scores
  • Average of Spring scores
  • housing and reporting data to QIS (May 2005)

Fall 2004
  • First weekfaculty member administers pre-test
  • First weekfaculty member averages test scores,
    records average, and stores tests
  • Fallfaculty member teaches course like in the
    past
  • Last weekfaculty members determine with their
    unit members which instructional feedback
    intervention to implement in Spring 2005
  • Last weekfaculty member administers the same (or
    similar) questions in a post-test
  • Last weekfaculty member averages test scores,
    records average, and stores tests
  • storage of data is determined by unit leader/QIS

Spring 2005
  • Faculty member repeats procedures 1 and 2 from
    Fall semester
  • Faculty member applies a pre-determined
    instructional feedback intervention
  • Faculty member repeats procedures 5 and 6 from
    Fall semester
  • Faculty member submits all data on Unit Faculty
    Member Report using Moodle (due May 15)

  • the main goal of the QEP is to improve student
    learning
  • Instructional feedback is the issue chosen to
    effect student learning
  • Improvement of student learning will be
    documented when comparing Fall test gains to
    Spring test gains

  • Fall post-test 61 average
  • Fall difference 31 points
  • Spring pre-test 35 average

  • A 2-point gain in student learning is documented

    unit decides for itself

  • Which intervention (related to instructional
    feedback) to use

  • Makes the QEP meaningful to everyone
