  companies, including Georgia Tech

ECho - Desired Modifications

• Event channels can be registered with a directory
  server (PDS)
• Dynamically add / remove sources and sinks from
  channels
• Sources or sinks dont need to be given id of the
  channel they can get it from the directory
  server

PDS Overview

• What is PDS?
• PDS Proactive Directory Service
• It is a directory server that supports complex
  queries
• Provides info on objects to applications
• Push-based interface data is sent to subscribed
  clients without need for specific requests
• Better suited for dynamic info (that changes
  often)

PDS Overview - II

• Ongoing project at Georgia Tech
• Uses ECho, Connection Manager, PBIO etc. for
  network communication
• How is it related to the Access Grid?
• Access Grid is a higher level application that
  provides virtual rooms (thru Virtual Venues) for
  multicast conferencing etc. over Internet2 using
  ECho
• ECho clients need to know certain information
  about channels so that they can subscribe to them

AG - Current Progress

• Hardware setup installation for Access Grid
  nodes
• Running the Access Grid software for video
  conferencing etc.
• Understanding the Virtual Venues program code and
  identifying potential bugs / possible
  improvements to be made

Future Work

• Get the Access Grid code running on our test
  server PHP, mySql etc.
• Modify the code if necessary
• Integrate with the PDS directory service server
  so that ECho services can use PDS, may require
  modification of tkMOO code
• Administration of channels through the Virtual
  Venues server
