What exactly is VoIP??

• VoIP (voice over internet protocol) is a method
  of taking analog audio signals and converting
  them into digital data that can be transmitted
  via the internet.
• VoIP uses a standard internet connection to
  bypass the phone company along with their
  charges.
• There are 3 common ways VoIP can be used, ATA
  (analog telephone adapter), or through the use of
  IP Phones or Computer-to-computer connections

Is VoIP right for petPRO??

• YES!!
• VoIP will allow its employees to make their calls
  just as easily but with a much lower cost to the
  company.

• Computer-to-computer requires a microphone,
  speakers, a sound card and an internet connection
  (all of which petPRO has)
• The software from Skype is free to download for
  client/server computers.
• Other than ISP fees there is no cost for calls,

  computer, Skype requires that each user receiving
  or making calls has the same software installed.

• Therefore only company employees can reach each
  other using Skypes free VoIP computer to

• Vonage is a VoIP supplier that works as a phone
  company offering calling plans for companies
  making VoIP calls.
• Softphone is a screen-based interface that works
  just like your telephone keypad. You can make a
  call, receive a call, and pick up your voicemails
  too.

Softphone Advantages

• Since the softphone is simply software, there is
  no need to carry around extra equipment. (for ex.
  IP phone or ATA)
• Its client software so it loads the VoIP service
  to any computer.
• Get company can be put onto monthly plans for
  use, and allows each individual to use the same
  plan.
• Can make outgoing and receive incoming calls from
  real phone numbers , cheaper than using a real
  phone service (cheaper rates)

Softphone disadvantages

• Still have to pay for calls made through
  supplier. (still similar to going through a phone
  company).
• Costs to add each additional number (obviously
  there would be different numbers for each dept.
  etc)
