  • Based on demographic data the population of the
    world reached 6.1 billion until 2001 and it
    increases by 1.3, that is to say by almost 80
    million every year

    a billion and the people of 80 and over reached
    10 within that

WHO defined the life sections lately as follows
  • 50-60 years of age the age of transition,
  • 60-75 years of age the age of aging,
  • 75-90 years of age elderly age, above
  • 90 years of age very old and above
  • 100 years of age the age of Methusel

Expected results
  • the life conditions living in small regions are

    institutions is reducing
  • the mental condition of elderly people is
    improving
  • the opportunity to acquire information is

  • the needs are satisfied at a higher level

The specialised care forms belonging to the
framework of personal care are the following
  • the institution providing the care,
  • rehabilitation institution,
  • lodging home,
  • institution providing temporary placement,
  • other special social institution.

Tasks of the institutions that undertake to care
for the elderly
  • to assist in accepting the elderly age,
  • to provide information on, to teach how to spend
    the inactive years actively,
  • to facilitate the availability of the services
    customised to the needs of those that use the
    care,
  • to create the daily life schedule and to
    facilitate the availability of services,
  • to insure activities that serve prevention and
    rehabilitation.

The staff of the elderly peoples homes work
based on the following basic values
  • they insure the complete preservation of
    self-esteem and human dignity for the dwellers,
  • the acceptance of their abilities and life
    experiences,
  • they help keeping, increasing the dwellers
    external relations,
  • they support the perfection of the emotional,
    social, intellectual abilities of the dwellers,
  • they insure the right of free will and decision
    to the largest possible extent,
  • they accept their emotions and the generation of
    their intimate relations,
  • they care for the dwellers in a customised way,
    in consideration of their individual needs, by
    accepting their religious habits, ethnic and
    cultural traditions.

Council for the Elderly
  • The government operates a Council for the Elderly
    in order to improve the life conditions and to
    assert the interests of the elderly, which
    regularly transfers the difficulties, problems of
    the social care system to our countrys
    parliament. As the manager of the methodological
    institution it is my task to transfer the
    questions in connection with the care of the
    elderly arising in practice to the members of the
    Council for the Elderly.
