Vela NDU EAS Controller
  • BEFORE connecting any hardware, verify that the
    NDU front power LED indicator is OFF.
  • If not, switch the NDU power off by pressing the
    red power button on the front panel.
  • Important Do not remove the external AC to cycle
    power! Wait for the power button LED to stop
    flashing, i.e., LED solid off (this may take a
    few seconds).

NDU Local Login
  • After all hardware has been connected, switch the
    NDU on by pressing the front panel power button.
    The NDU monitor should display the typical PC
    boot dialog and then the Linux boot dialog.
  • After the Linux boot has completed, a login
    prompt should be displayed ndu Login.
  • Type "root" (without the quotes and no uppercase
    letters) for the initial login.
  • Press the Enter key. You will be prompted for a
    password.
  • Type "acmndu" (without the quotes no uppercase
    letters) and press the Enter key. This will
    produce a Linux command line prompt root_at_NDU
    root.
  • Now type "startx" (without the quotes and no
    uppercase letters) and press the Enter key. This
    will launch the "Windows-like" KDE Desktop.
  • Verify that the mouse is functional by moving it
    and observing that the mouse pointer moves
    appropriately on the display. Put the mouse
    pointer on the Netscape browser icon (looks like
    a ship's steering wheel, located in the bottom
    middle quadrant of the screen) and press the
    mouse left button to launch Netscape.
  • The browser should automatically redirect to
    192.168.0.1, display the EAS/ACM Gateway Page and
    then the NDU Login Page. If the browser does not
    redirect automatically type "192.168.0 .1"
    (without the quotes) in the browser address box
    and press Enter.
  • You then need to login again on the NDU login
    page. Type "Admin" (without the quotes, uppercase
    A and remaining letters lower case) as the
    default user name, and "acmndu" (without the
    quotes no uppercase letters) as the password. Put
    the mouse pointer on the login button and press
    the left mouse button. You can now proceed to
    configure the NDU.

Auto Configure ACMs
  • Select Run server auto config, click OK once
    and then click CANCEL once.

  • Then go to the Channels page to verify all of
    the ACMs are in the chart.

EAS Zones
Details, crawl messaging and full page pointer
channels are selected on the EAS ZONES page.
Accept Changes to save new settings.

Audio
Select the audio input on the AUDIO page.

Contact Closures (GPI) The xeas.1 selection
keeps the GPI ouput-1 contact active during the
text crawl duration. There are a total of six
independent GPI outputs.
