- Have you ordered your Adopt-A-Book yet?
Adopt-A-Books are like Birthday Books, but you
can order one at any time, for any reason.
20.00 buys the book, a nameplate with your name
on it and the satisfaction of helping the
library. Come by for an Adopt-A-Book form!
3Library News
- Thanks to Laura Daigh for her recent
Adopt-A-Book! Laura chose the third book in The
Midnighters series by Scott Westerfeld as her
Adopt-A-Book. You can adopt a book, too - just
come by the library for a form!
4Library News
- The library will show the first National Treasure
movie after Early Release on Wednesday! Seating
is limited to 50 students. Pick up a permission
form and return it, signed by your parents, by
345 on Monday. Permission forms are in the
library!
5Library News
- Thanks to Emma Young for her recent Adopt-A-Book
of one of this year's Lone Star books, Found by
Margaret Peterson Haddix! This is a great,
suspenseful book and a sequel, titled Sent, has
just come out. You can adopt a book, too - just
come by the library for a form!
6Sign Language Club News
- The 1st Sign Language Club meeting will be
Tuesday, September 15th after school. Come to
Mrs. Malek's room 427 for some fun times to
meet your officers!
7Students are not to enter the building prior to
745 unless they have teacher permission. The
only reason students should enter between
745-810 is to go to the cafeteria, teacher
tutorials or the library (which does not open
until 750).
8ATTENTION STUDENTS
- In the mornings, please enter through the bus
canopy doors or at the small parking lot entry.
Reminder Students are not to be in the building
before 810, except to attend teacher tutorials,
go to the cafeteria or go to the library.
9ATTENTION STUDENTS
- For added student security and safety, the third
level doors (near Ms. Casmedes' classroom) will
be locked all day. - Students can enter in the mornings through the
main entrance or the bus canopy doors.
10 Bus Permits are issued to students who have a
WRITTEN NOTE from a parent letting them go home
with another student or to another destination
other than their normal stop. These notes must be
given to Ms.Wright in the Student Center before
noon on the day of the change.
11Going Wyld!
- Canyon Vista Is Going Wild for Wyldlife!!
- Wyldlife is a Young Life group for Middle School
students and will be open to all kids in the 6th
- 8th grades! - We will meet almost every Monday evening from
659 - 800 p.m. for Club!
12Wyld Continued
- Club consists of exciting group games, relay
races, high energy activities, hilarious skits,
illustrative talks, interactive discussion, and,
of course, snacks!
13Spanish Club
- Come join the Spanish Club on the last Thursday
of every month. - First meeting September 24 at 345 to 405. In
Mrs. Malo room 414.

- This year's Read it Forward book will be
announced on Wednesday, September 16th! Watch

15GEOGRAPHY BEE STUDY GROUP!!
- Any grade level student
- Room 306, Mrs.Callender
- Mondays, 330 - 415
16- Beginning Wednesday, September 9, all grade
levels will be required to show a school ID
before entering the cafeteria. Have your card, as
there will be a person on duty to check the ID at
the door. - Students without ID cards will be held in the
hallway outside the until most of the students
are through the lunch lines and seated.
17- Students without ID cards will also be required
to sign their names to a list for the Assistant
Principals to check so that students who
repeatedly come to lunch without an ID card may
be disciplined.
18CVHH
- CVHH meets every Thursday in room 304. We meet
from 340 -400.
19- The library is available before and after
school for independent study research and
Reading. - Be considerate of others when using the
library! Find something to read or work on and
have a seat students playing in the library will
be asked to leave.
20Chess Club
- Fun Chess/GO Club will start this Thursday,
Sept. 17th, from 335 - 430 in Ms. Yung's room
(301).
21Competitive Chess Club
- Competitive Chess Club will begin this
Wednesday, Sept. 16th, from 730 - 810 am in Ms.
Yung's room (301). There is a 15 fee to join.
22Book Club
The pleasure of all reading is doubled when
one lives with another who shares the same
books. --Katherine Mansfield (1888-1923) What
a book conversation club run by and for
students! Who CVMS 6th and 7th graders Where
Rm. 320 When Thursday mornings 750-810am
beginning September 24.
23- We will meet to rave about the books that left
us cheering and rant about the ones that left us
cold! We can decide to read the same book all
together as a club, share individually about what
we're reading, or maybe do a service learning
project to promote literacy in our community.
This is the first year for this club, so all book
lovers are welcome to come try it out!

- French Club will meet Monday September 21 from
345 until 415. - Mrs. Kohlers room.
