SHS Mission Statement
  • It is the mission of the faculty and staff at
    Spring High School to provide an environment in
    which students may achieve success in the areas
    of attendance, attitude, and academics. This
    mission is accomplished in a variety of ways
    proper academic placement, high academic
    expectations, opportunities for participation in
    numerous clubs, organizations, and teams, quality
    counseling services, an overall safe and orderly
    atmosphere, and a comprehensive student
    recognition and incentive program.

Course Description
  • Introduction to Health Science Technology is a
    course designed to inform students about the
    various aspects of health care and the health
    care industry.
  • Health care is evolving daily to respond to new
    knowledge as it is gathered. Research is finding
    new information that may be the cure or
    successful treatment for many of our health care
    concerns. Technological innovations are announced
    in the news each day. Health care workers of the
    future will need to be able to find, evaluate,
    and use new information and treatment techniques.

Course Description
  • This course is divided into three units Core
    Knowledge, Anatomy Physiology, and Career
    Clusters. The Core Knowledge unit provides the
    foundation from which all health care workers
    must operate. The Anatomy Physiology unit
    provides background information in health as it
    relates to the human body. The Career Clusters
    unit provides a sampling of information about the
    jobs, knowledge, and skills in each cluster area.

The Golden Rule
  • Be where youre supposed to be, when youre
    supposed to be there, doing what youre supposed
    to be doing, as well as that task can be done.

The 5 Ps
  • Be prepared.
  • Be prompt.
  • Be polite.
  • Be positive.
  • Be productive.

Be Prepared
  • Have your supplies every day.
  • Use the restroom between classes.

Be Prompt
  • Get to class on time.
  • Have a seat when you arrive.
  • You must be in your seat when the bell rings to
    avoid being tardy.
  • The door to each classroom will be locked after
    the final bell rings. If you are not in class by
    this time, you will need to obtain an admit slip
    in order to be admitted into class.

Be Polite
  • Be considerate of others. Dont insult them,
    dont ridicule answers. If you dont have
    anything nice to say dont say anything at all.
  • Treat your teachers with respect they are here
    to help you.

Be Positive
  • Come to class ready to learn.
  • Encourage others to do their best.
  • Compliment others when they do well.

Be Productive
  • Produce! Do your work on time!
  • Use your time wisely. Try to finish work in
    class to avoid homework.
  • Do not be a procrastinator!

Collage Project
  • This is an in-class project that will be
    completed during the first week of class. The
    idea behind this project is to create a collage
    using pictures that represent one of your
    classmates and their interests. Each student will
    briefly explain their collage in front of the
    class before turning them in.

  • Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue/Glue Stick
  • Magazines (make sure they have plenty of
    pictures)
