Two Type of ALGRIP Plates

Other Similar Product
Ross Technologies, Leola, PA have developed a
unique product called ALGRIP Slip-Resistant
Plates which have higher friction than smooth
metal surfaces and other conventional road
plates. ALGRIP plates have a matrix of laser
deposits on a metal base plate (substrate) these
laser deposits create the necessary friction on
the surface of these plates.
Evaluation of abrasion susceptibility was tested
using an accelerated trafficking device MMLS3
(Model Mobile Simulator, 1/3 Scale). Trafficking
is done at two wheel applications per second with
a contact pressure of 600 kPa, similar to that of
a truck tire. Testing was done at ambient
temperature.

Evaluation of Corrosion Resistance
Initial skid resistance of the plates was
measured using the British Pendulum Tester. After
the trafficking of the plates by the application
of the wheel loads, the skid resistance of the
plates was measured using British Pendulum Tester
at regular intervals. Trafficking was also done
for the corroded plates and their skid resistance
was measured. Six replicate measurements were
conducted for each plate.

Arrangement of Corrosion Tank
The specimens are corroded in a corrosion tank by
exposing them to salt spray fog. 5 by weight of
salt is added to 95 weight water and fog is
generated through a pressurized air nozzle using
this salt solution. The specimens were subjected
to corrosion for a period of 63 days

there is a significant fall in the BPN for the
first 80,000 cycles. Then the fall becomes
gradual and later the BPN for the plates is
stabilized and there is just a minor variation in
BPN beyond this point.
