What is mental wellbeing? It is a state of
wellbeing where you are able to live your life
with a purpose and to the fullest. By optimizing
your mental wellbeing, you are able to cope with
everyday demands, bounce back from adversities in
life, believe in yourself and realize your
ability to contribute and make a difference to
the community you thrive in.

Why mental wellbeing at the workplace? Happy
employees are more productive, energized and
creative in problem solving. They take fewer
days of sick leave and are more optimistic about
their future.

A mentally healthy workplace means its employees
feel good about themselves, the work they do, and
the people they work with.

TYM Day is a wonderful opportunity for workplaces
to show, in concrete action, that every
employees mental wellbeing matters! It starts
with wanting to do something about it, making
small changes in the way we do things, keeping
them going and allowing the big differences to
happen.

The MYR Movement is an activity which all
employees can participate. Everyone is
encouraged to carry out actions that will
contribute to a conducive environment where
relationships matter. The more people
participate, the greater is the difference.

Small Actions x Lots of People Big Differences
  • Send a feel good email to as many colleagues
    as you can
  • Leave work on time to see the blue sky, and
    spend time with
  • your family
  • For every other hour you are at work, think
    and write down
  • one thing you like about yourself
  • For every good thing you write about yourself,
    write one
  • about any of your colleagues
  • Volunteer to do something which is not
    normally in your
  • scope of work
  • Find at least two other colleagues who share
    your hobby or
  • interest
  • Commit yourself to do these actions frequently
    over the next
  • 6 months

  • Write to us to confirm a date and time for

  • Step 3 Planning - programme, manpower,
    implementation
  • when, who, what
  • the opening, the anchor event, the tracking,
    the other activities etc.

    itself to generate some pre-event excitment

  • Plan an activity to kickstart the MYR Movement
    and TYM Day
  • Distribute the MYR 360degree Token to your
    staff
  • Encourage them to put this Token up in a
    prominent place at their work area

  • You may use the roll up notice board in the
    TYM Resource Pack
  • Set a target and aim high
  • Objective of tracking is to emphasize the
    concept of the Movement

  • Think of ways to encourage participation, get
    people excited about it, motivate
  • more to do the Small Actions
  • For example
  • - Prizes given to the best 5 (most
    imaginative, most practical, most voted etc.)

  • - Contest to find the Person who took the
    most Small Actions

  • Step 5 Celebrate Success
  • Make your staff proud of what they have
    achieved
  • Highlight the feel good quotient because of
    the mass participation in the Movement

  • Employee Mental Wellbeing awareness starts,
    not end, with the Movement
  • Take advantage of the awareness and interest
    generated organise other Mental
  • Wellbeing activities/programmes
  • For example
  • Schedule a 1-hr TYM Talk (Cultivating A
    Healthy Mind) and/or TYM Workshop
  • Get feedback from staff on what they think
    about workplace mental wellbeing
  • Launch any new workiplace (work life harmony)
    initiative aligned with the theme
  • Include employee mental health as a pillar of
    your workplaces health promotion
  • framework
