3LX7000 pro IGC -overview
- The new LX7000 pro IGC system has a long pedigree
of design excellence in soaring energy management
with the design and production of over 2500 LX
soaring instruments over the past ten years. - The system consists of two interconnected units
a control and display module, the LX7000 DU, with
the largest high resolution graphic display
(160x240 pixels) possible in an 80mm (3")
package, and a 57 mm (2 1/4") vario display unit,
the LX7000 AU, which also contains the pneumatic
sensors. Both units use the latest state of the
art digital technology and communicate using a
RS485 system bus. - The LX7000 DU also contains a GPS-module and a
secure flight recorder which has been granted
unrestricted IGC approval. - Graphic display unit, the LX7000 DU is now much
shorter than on the LX5000 which gives much
greater freedom of installation than before. -
4LX 7000 AU Solid state Variometer Display and
Sensor Unit
- 32 Mhz High speed micro processor
- User configurable, custom designed LCD
- Standard 57mm (2 1/4) package
- Pneumatic connections
- 485 system bus
- Altitude and speed sensors
- Altitude, vario and speed data aquisition
The integral sensors, coupled with the fast micro
processor, allow high sample rates of all
signals, giving truly outstanding electronic
TE-compensation with a rapid update rate of vario
needle, while special filtering algorithms ensure
that the vario remains both fast and accurate.
5LX7000 DU Configurable Graphic Display Unit
with Controls
- Integral GPS receiver
- Push buttons
- Rotary switches
- 160x240 pixel 38400 pixel display
- Power input for the whole system
- RS485 bus
- Plug and play connection of LX20 or Colibri,
power and data - Altitude sensor for IGC SFR
- High speed micro processor
6LX7000 DU - features and options
This unit contains all the user controls together
with a large, high definition graphic display for
airspace, navigation and task information. The
unit has unrestricted IGC approval as a secure
flight recorder for all types of flights.
- Integral GPS with configurable NMEA output to
PDAs running Winpilot, GNII, etc. - TP, task and flight info data exchange with
Colibri and LX 20. - Secondary device available for second seat.
(optional) - Remote control (keyboard or stick) available.
(optional) - Power/data adapter for plug and play connection
LX7000-IPAQ (36/37 and 38/39 series). (optional) - RS232 splitting unit to connect LX7000,
Colibri/LX20 and IPAQ to the same 232 bus.
(optional)
7LX7000 - Airspace
- Airspace warning xxx minutes (on pilots demand)
before penetration
- New airspace philosophy
- Easy creation of user airspace using LXasBrowser
program (allows, besides other useful functions,
import of open air format) - Editing of LX airspace by pilot
- Creation of old airspace format accepted by
LX5000 and LX20
8LX7000 - Full AAT support
- Assigned Area Tasks (AAT). The main principle of
this task is that big zones or sectors are
defined around a turnpoint, and the pilot decides
how deep he will fly into each sector. The task
is normally time limited. All these features are
supported by the LX7000 pro IGC using its
functions of ZONE and MOVE. - ZONE allows different sectors to be created for
each turn point of the task, including the start
and finish sectors, if required.
Example This shows a zone based on a TP, 13 km
deep with a 60 sector. (A2 and R2 are not used
in defining this particular sector and therefore
zero.)
9- Using MOVE allows the pilot to move the turn
point within the whole sector area, simply by
using ZOOM and the Up/Down rotary switch.

10After using MOVE, the new task distance and
required average speed to finish the task in the
remaining time will be shown. The total task time
allocated by the task setter is set before
takeoff using the edit function, and the
remaining time to complete the task counts down
from the start time.

11LX7000 - Meets latest finish regulations
- Use ZONE to define the finish cylinder (A1 180
to define a finish cylinder, while R1 is the
specified radius) - MOVE the finish point to the edge of the cylinder
- Use safety altitude setting (INIT) to define
minimum arrival altitude

12LX7000 -Options
- Secondary vario indicators (unlimited number)
- Double seater configuration (second seat full AAT
supported) - Remote control (stick mounted or miniature
keyboard)
13 14- PDA SW compatibility WinPilot Pro, WinPilot
Advanced, FlywithCE Navigator and Downloader. - RS485 splitting unit (connects all bus connected
options to the system bus) - RS232 splitting unit (prevents collision using
more units connected to the RS232 port)
- Electronic compass (for additional wind
calculation method)
