Lets review addition without regrouping.
Our total was not 10 or more so we didnt have to
regroup.

Addition with regrouping is used when our answer
is 10 or more. We can only put 9 ones in the
ones place.
So a 10 is equal to 1 group of ten and 0 ones.

Four ones plus eight ones equal twelve ones in
all.

We can regroup the 12 ones as 10 ones and
2 ones.

Or we can regroup the 12 ones as 1 group of
ten and 2 ones.
