Oh Amy, its so nice outside! Its a beautiful
spring morning. I hope you have a wonderful day
in second grade today! Ill pick you up from
Megans later
Okay, bye Mom!

We are going to learn the names of the 50 states
today!
Little did I know that today was going to be the
beginning of a very stressful week!

Class, please write out as many states as you can
think of on a looseleaf sheet of paper. Please
do not talk to your neighbors and turn in your
paper when you can not possibly think of any more
states!
I for sure know Illinois! Thats the state I
live in! I also know Florida, Colorado, Texas,
Missouri, and Hawaii. These are the only six
states I could think of. My family members live
in the first five and I have always wanted to go
to Hawaii, so I know that one! Ahhh, I can not
think of any more states.

Lets start the song so I can start memorizing
these states for the test!
I think I was the only girl in our entire class
who did not know more than six states. I can not
seem to remember any states. I am having the
hardest time!
I have something to show you. It is a song that
my brother taught me last year when he was in the
2nd grade. It is a song called Fifty Nifty
United States! I have listened to the song so
many times that I soon memorized it. That is why
I knew all 50 today in class.
Hey, Amy! Thanks for coming over to my house.

much fun learning it from you.
I think so! After listening to that song for the
past 3 hours, I think I have it memorized now!

Oh yes! I am very ready for the quiz thanks to
Megans help! We have a surprise to show the
class when we are finished with the quiz.

Okay, good work class! You have all turned in
your tests. Now, Megan and Amy have a little
surprise that they want to share with us. I do
not even know what the surprise is! This will be

Here is a little song that helped us remember all
50 states in alphabetical order!

Do you have a copy of the song for me to use for
other students who are having difficulty
remembering all the states? I have never hear of
such a song to memorize the states. Great idea
and great way of helping each other out!!
