DFRC ER-2 East Coast Deployment NOW-3267Project
Manager Libby West
  • NASA's Airborne Science Program is administered
from NASA Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC).
The program supports the sub-orbital flight
requirements of the NASA Earth Science
    Enterprise.
  • Dryden maintains and operates two ER-2 high
    altitude satellite simulator aircraft. These
    aircraft operate world-wide, collecting
scientific data to help understand the natural
and man-made influences on our environment. The
scientific disciplines that employ these aircraft
    include earth resources, astronomy, atmospheric
    chemistry, climatology, oceanography, archeology,
    ecology, forestry, geography, geology, hydrology,
    meteorology, volcanology, and biology.
  • The ER-2 is also an important tool to develop
sensors that will fly aboard future earth
observing satellites and validate and calibrate
the satellite sensors that currently orbit our
    planet.
  • NASA DFRC provides high altitude capability
    for
  • Various federal, state, and local agencies
  • Universities
  • Independent research organizations
  • The ER-2 program is funded by NASA DFRC.
  • WFF support for this activity includes project
management and coordination, use of the airfield,
    and operational support.
  • Contract support for this program is provided
by the DynCorp, WICC, and CSC contracts.
  • The Wallops budget for the program is
    approximately 25K per month.
  • Initial Contact for Support 06/17/2003
  • Official Request for Support TBD
  • OSD Revision 3 TBD
  • ER-2 Arrives 08/11/2003
  • Pre-Mission Brief 08/12/2003
