New and not so New Planetary Nebulae from IPHAS
and the SHS EGAPS Meeting, Cambridge 11 13
Sept 2006
Rhys Morris, Steve Phillipps and final year
students from Bristol Astrophysics Group

Outline of the Talk
  • The galactic anti-centre
  • The newly explored 23h -gt 0h region of IPHAS
  • Some other projects
  • Comparison between IPHAS and SHS

3
The galactic anti-centre (5-6hrs RA)
Area surveyed by Anna Kovacevic in 2005. Found
30 extended nebulae candidates in 15x15 binned
data. Found 30 more possible compact nebulae
(incomplete survey).
4
The 23h-0h RA region
Area surveyed by Daniel Huggins (6th form
Nuffield student) and Rhys Morris in
2006. Found 40 extended nebula candidates in
15x15 binned data.
5
Other projects
  • Looked for PN candidates in northern globular
    clusters.
  • Looked for PN in Monoceros ring and other
    galactic streams.
  • Variability studies by images subtraction.
  • Variability studies by catalogue matching.
  • CV search
  • IPHAS/SHS overlap region
