2History Of The RSPCA
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Animals was formed in Western Australia in
1892 and has the responsibility for administering
the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals .
The objectives of the society are
- To encourage and sustain public interest in
animal welfare through education and the media
- To promote kindness and prevent or suppress
cruelty to animals
- To enforce existing laws relating to the
protection of animals and to make representations
to the Government for changes to these laws, when
considered necessary
3Introduction to the RSPCA
- There are now 323 uniformed RSPCA inspectors
- In 2004 inspectors investigating over 105,932
animal cruelty complaints which resulted in over
1,500 evictions
