For the first ten years, this event was
concentrated on the presentation of haute couture
collections from Russian designers and leading

involves the presentation of prêt-a-porter

- The first Russian designer to be accepted to the
Paris Fashion Syndicate, Valentin Yudashkin is a

trying to make the beauty of Russian culture
shine through his creations, which is perhaps why

for the Atlanta Olympic Games. His collections,
some of which are exhibited in the Louvre Museum
and the International Olympic Museum, are
inspired by Russian culture.
6Natalia Vodianova history of success
- She was born in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod,
Russia's fourth largest city), on February 28th,
1982. - Vodianova had a difficult childhood. Since she
was 11, Vodianova helped her mother with her
small business she moved into her own apartment
with a friend at 15 and started her own
fruit-stall business. She was thus able to help
out her sisters, one of whom is disabled. - At the same time she enrolled in modeling
academy and started going to castings. Her bad
knowledge of English was the only barrier on her
way to a professional model carrier. - Convinced that her life would change for the
better, Vodianova learned English in three
months, moved to Paris and signed up with the
Viva agency at age 17. Soon, Gucci made her the
new face for their perfume line.
7After working at more than 40 runway shows, she
was hired to appear in Calvin Klein's spring
show. Around this time she also made a brief
appearance in Roman Coppola's film CQ, with Billy
Zane.
According to Forbes, Vodianova is ranked as
the seventh highest-earning model in the world
after Carolyn Murphy, Alessandra Ambrosio,
Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum, Kate Moss and Gisele
Bündchen. Her earnings for the past year were in
the order of 4.5 million. She was ranked
14th in Channel 5's "World's greatest supermodel".

Vuitton, L'Oreal, Marc Jacobs, Miss Sixty, Pepe
Jeans, and Calvin Klein's collection and his
fragrance, "Euphoria".

three children
9"I have done it. I have everything I want. I have
made enough money to secure my family and that is
all I care about."
10Professionals talking
- Suzy Menkes
- - Russian fashion is still searching for
an identity in a world that has moved so
brutally from Pravda to Prada. And it has not
yet gained the international recognition that
has made the country's alabaster-skinned
beauties, such as Natalia Vodianova, into the
world's current top models. - Alla Verber (MERCURY) - Russian Fashion
Week has got its position in the row of the
most important fashion events in Russia. Its
experience is extremely important because RFW
introduces designer fashion throughout the
country and help to reveal new talents in
fashion art field and develops Russian fashion
abroad.
