History and Location of Indium

• Indium was discovered in 1863 by two German named
  Ferdinand Reich and Theodore Richter.
• It was identified as a minor component in zinc
  ores .
• Named after the indigo line in its atomic
  spectrum

• Found melted in a type of mirror
• Found in film coatings on LCDs
• Found in lower concentration in many rocks and
  minerals
• Found in certain alloys
