Title: The Advanced Immunization Management AIM eLearning Project

1
The Advanced Immunization Management (AIM)
e-Learning Project
  • A project funded by CVP and LPFCH, developed at
    LearningTech/SUMMIT, with collaboration from WHO,
    CDC and other GAVI partners.

2
GAVI The Big Picture
  • The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization
(GAVI) and its financial arm, The Vaccine Fund,
is an historic alliance between the private and
public sector, committed to saving children's
lives and people's health through the widespread
    use of vaccines.
  • Estimated commitment of US905 million, over next
    five years, to 64 countries.
  • The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - a major
    GAVI partner.

3
From GAVI to AIM e-Learning
  • The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contains
  • The Program for Appropriate Technologies in
    Health (PATH) which contains
  • The Childrens Vaccine Program (CVP)
  • One of CVPs current missions is to introduce
    e-learning to training programs.
  • Much training material exists for middle-level
    immunization managers (people who manage
vaccination clinics and train medical personnel
    who administer vaccines).
  • Little material exists for national-level health
    policy makers.
  • Thus AIM - the Advanced Immunization Management
training effort - of which AIM e-Learning is a
    part.

4
AIM e-Learning A viable medium?
  • Project viability was determined with in-person
interviews and an e-mail survey of our target
    users.
  • all immunization managers surveyed had Windows
machines less than 3 years old, with CD drives,
    at their work sites.
  • Over 50 reported accessing the Internet daily
and the rest did one or more times a week.
  • 71 accessed via modems (average speed 52K), the
    rest via fast connections.
  • Conclusion our target users have more than
adequate access to and knowledge of the necessary
    technologies.

    navigation
  • Content designed for multi-modal learning with
an image, chart, or animation on nearly every page

  • This screenshot from the Build and Cost Your
Plan simulated walkthrough shows how AIM
e-Learning can help break down seemingly
difficult tasks (like projecting the cost of an
    immunization program) into easy steps.
  • Worksheet grows as you work, with printable
    preview.
  • Choices offered are dynamically generated based
    on choices already made
  • At any point you can return to a page and change
    your work
