• Your team is lost in the dessert with no
  cell-phone. This dessert is known to get up to
  110 degrees during the day and to drop down to 30
  degrees at night. There have been many sightings
  of rattle snakes and large hawks that may attack
  people. From time to time there may be sand
  storms.

Exercise 2 Agree on A Size Estimate

• Your team has been asked to provide an initial
  size estimate of a software project and the
  estimated effort.
• You must agree on the interpretation of size
  and effort agree on the actual numbers.
• Add a function to an existing web-based
  employee benefits software.
• The current software only allows the company
  benefits coordinator to update employee benefit
  choices. The newly added function should allow
  each employee to access his/her own health
  benefits information and make modifications in
  the choices once every quarter. There are only 5
  areas of choices( type of deductibles for general
  health and hospital, number of dependencies,
  inclusion of dental, inclusion of vision,
  inclusion of medicine). This function allows the
  employees to perform the modification only in the
  first 5 days of each quarter. Of course, access
  security is very important and so is data
  security. The existing system is coded with a
  language like HTML-PHP and a backend Relational
  DB.

Exercise 3 Why I Should be XXX

• Once we divide into teams, someone has to play
  the
• team leader role. Yes, there is more
  responsibilities, but I am willing to do this and
  want to do this. Besides I am good at
  documenting, tracking and making presentations,
  not to mention planning and organizing.
• designer/programmer role. Yes, this is hard
  core technical stuff, but I am good at this. I
  can be a positive contributor to the project.
• team quality tester. Yes, this sounds like a
  dirty job, but I have the passion for testing and
  know what to do. Besides, I really want to learn
  this trade because there are a lot of entry level
  jobs in quality assurance.

Come up with an agreed list of who will play
what role in the team, with good rationale.
