Shore-based internships

• Shore-based positions include research
  laboratories and industry settings
• Some internships paid hourly wage, some are
  unpaid

At-sea Internships

• Place students on University National
  Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) research
  vessels
• Internships last for 1-8 weeks (usually in
  Summer)
• 300/week stipend plus all travel costs is
  provided

Intern Selection

• Interns selected from colleges and universities
  across the country
• Interns prescreened to match interns interests,
  knowledge and skills to employer requirements
• Host makes final decision
• Interns and mentors sign an agreement and develop
  a work plan
• Students enroll for cooperative work experience,
  independent study credit at MPC or home
  institution
