Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP) Dental
Screening

What is it?

• Annual screening dental exams are required for
  readiness.
• New dental screening initiative for certain
  SELRES members to help improve dental readiness.
  No cost to SELRES members.
• Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP) has
  contracted with dental providers throughout the
  country to provide dental screening exams for
  eligible Coast Guard SELRES members.

Who can participate??

• SELRES members (on orders for 30 days or less)
  without dental insurance coverage AND who reside
  and work greater than 50 miles from a Coast Guard
  Dental Treatment Facility (DTF).

How do I obtain an appointment?

Call the RHRP Dental Screening phone number

a contract dentist

What happens next?

• After making the appointment, a dental package
  (ie. an envelope) will be sent to you.
• The package will have directions to the
  contracted dentist and other paperwork.
• Bring the package with you to your appointment.
  Do NOT bring your dental record!

What happens next?

• After your appointment, your records will be
  reviewed and the data will be entered by the
  contract dental staff into the Coast Guard dental
  readiness system (DENCAS).
• All paperwork will be sent to your health record
  custodian.

Anything else I should know?

• You can use one Readiness Management Period (RMP)
  for this screening.
• If a contract dentist is offered beyond 50 miles,
  contact your District DXR for travel
  reimbursement.

Anything else I should know?

• This is different from the PHA it does not have
  to align with your birth month period.
• The RHRP is designed to improve dental readiness
  by facilitating yearly required dental exams.
• Dental treatment or cleaning is not authorized
  under this program!! Dental follow-up care and
  treatment are the responsibility of the SELRES
  member.
