- No Taxation without Representation
- The motto for the colonial separatists, or
Patriots, who were tired of paying high taxes to
the British Government - Colonialists engaged in several acts of
aggression against British soldiers stationed in
the colonies - The most famous being the Boston Tea Party in
1773, where the Sons of Liberty, a group
organized by Samuel Adams dressed as Mohawk
Indians, boarded two British boats and threw all
the tea overboard into the Boston Harbor

- By 1776, the Patriots had gained 100 control of
all the colonies - 13 states were then formed Massachusetts, Rhode
Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York,
Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia,
Maryland, North South Carolina, Georgia - On July 4th, 1776 the United States Declaration
of Independence and Constitution were ratified by
all 13 states new country was born
