Mission

• Resources and opportunities will be aligned in
  The Zone to meet the physical, emotional and
  spiritual needs of all children (birth to 18
  years) to promote educational achievement and
  life success.

• Collaborative partners throughout the region
  focus resources in zone to support youth and
  families.
• Emphasis on education and life success creates a
  vision for the future for individuals and the
  community.
• Shared messaging about success and opportunities
  across organizations will impact achievement.

Our Charge

• Community organizations began gathering in late
  2007, inspired by the success of the Harlem
  Childrens Zone, to form a collaborative effort
  that works to guarantee opportunities, support,
  and education for all children growing up in the
  area of the Northside most impacted by crime,
  violence, and poverty.

Coordination Teams Overview

• Purpose In order to promote organizational
  networking, strategic coordination, and shared
  planning amongst key groups providing
  opportunities within the Northside Achievement
  Zone, Coordination Teams will be formed. The
  Teams will be organized by specific topic areas
  (such as k-12 education, mentoring, outreach)
  where groups are organizing.

Coordination Team Attributes

• The Team forming has at least 3 members and one
  identified leader willing to coordinate with NAZ
  leadership.
• Members are willing to commit to the vision and
  values of the NAZ.
• Members are interested in coordinating how their
  services/opportunities are aligned within the
  Zone.
• The network will set its own achievement goals to
  be approved by the Steering Committee for
  implementation.

Coordination Team Examples

• Examples of coordinated work within Coordination
  Teams are hosting shared training, geographically
  dividing up services in a coordinated manner,
  joint fundraising, shared case-management, and
  strategic replication of services.
