Title: Teaching Philosophy

1
Teaching Philosophy
  • Amy White
  • Auburn University
  • Summer 2006

2
Why will I teach
  • I want to teach so that I can make the lives of
my students better than they already are.
  • I want to teach my students about ideals and
subjects that I have a passion for.
  • Impacting students as other teachers impacted me
is very important to my teaching philosophy.

3
Who will I teach?
  • I will be teaching a diverse group of students
    coming from various cultures, religions,
    socioeconomic classes, and family groups.
  • My students will be elementary aged students
ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade.

4
What will I teach?
  • I prefer students at the level of 4th, 5th, or
    6th grade.
  • If teaching 6th grade. I would prefer teaching
    history, reading, or math.

5
Where will I teach?
  • I hope to stay in Alabama or Georgia to teach.
  • I prefer an area about the size of the Auburn
    Opelika area.
  • Cities as large as Montgomery and as small as
Eufaula will suit my teaching ambitions.

6
How will I teach?
  • I will teach through hands on activities,
    experiments, lectures, and technology.
  • I hope to use a variety of technology based
themes in my class so that my students can learn
how to utilize it and appreciate it more
    effectively.

7
My overall philosophy
  • Teaching can change the lives of all people
involved, the teacher and the students. By
emphasizing an education based on how the
students learn best and how the teacher teaches
best will affect the overall outcome of learning.
What I, as the teacher, put in and what my
students get out is the foundation of what they
will build the rest of their knowledge on.
