Coordinated BorderInfrastructure Program (CBI)
  • CBI is a formula based program that replaces
    TEA-21 Coordinated Border Infrastructure
discretionary program which ended after 2005.
  • CBI funds may be used to improve safe movement of
motor vehicles and cargo at or across land
    borders between U.S. and Mexico.
  • Projects will be selected by MPO and eligibility
    will be reviewed by FHWA.

3
Basis of Apportionmentfor CBI Funds by FHWA
  • 20 based on number of incoming trucks.
  • 30 number of incoming personal motor vehicles
    and buses.
  • 25 based on weight of incoming cargo by
    commercial trucks.
  • 25 based on number of land border ports of entry.

State of Texas used the same apportionment
formula as FHWA

CBI Program Projects Mexico and GSA

    of entry.
  • CBI funds may be used by GSA. Funds
would be transferred to GSA from the State.
