28Disease Management
Cultural methods are the best way to control
these diseases
Remove alternate hosts from the orchard and
surrounding hedgerows. Prune trees annually to
improve air circulation and to open up tree
canopy. This facilitates air movement and the
drying of fruit after a rain period. Thin to
separate fruit clusters. Cool fruit after
picking to retard the development of the disease.
