Select Type
The user first selects the type of Ad he wants to
create. These are configurable and he is only
presented with the types that are appropriate. He
also specifies the target publication and the
size of Ad to be created.

Select Style
Next he chooses the style of Ad to be generated.
The styles do not necessarily define the layout,
this is decided by the Rules Engine according to
the content supplied.

Check Cost
Optionally, the user may check the cost of the
chosen Ad, size and style. If used as a sales
tool, Apollo can be set up to generate two Ads
from the same content. One would be the chosen
Style and Size, the second could be an upsell
example.

The text may be keyed directly into Apollo, or
Apollo supports the AdsML standards for
it's import and export of advertising content.
Import of text with standardised XML tags makes
the integration of Apollo with AdsML compliant
order entry systems and workflow processes an
easy task.

order entry system or text editor. Apollo
validates the text to ensure that it will match
the chosen style. If any text does not match with
the defined fields for that style, it is flagged
so that the user can simply paste it into the
appropriate place.

Upload Images
The user is now invited to upload any images that
he wishes to include in the Ad. The Rules Engine
will place them according to the selected style.

Generate Advert
Lastly, Apollo automatically generates the Ad,
optionally creating a PDF, JPEG and an XML
version of the Ad.

These example PDFs illustrate the wide variety
of Display Ads that may be created by Apollo. The
powerful Rules Engine is the key to generating
the consistent styles. This is all easily
configurable through the use of an InDesign style
plug-in and the Wave2 configuration tool
The Apollo rules engine works out the best layout
and format for any given content according to the
styles and rules for that Display Ad. This means
that anyone with keyboard skills can create
professional Display Ads.

nLayout Decisions When each ad is built, this is
carried out under the control of the rules
engine. The rules decide which templates to use
for each ad, weather the text and images need to
be adjusted to achieve optimum results. In this
mode, the rules engine is behaving as a layout
artist with a full range of InDesign layout and
typographical control at its disposal. The rules
engine also makes the decisions about how to
intelligently use filters to occupy dead space
if there is not enough content to fill a page
within the typographical constraints.
