MALWARE REMOVAL TOOLS

  little different than the normal anti-virus and
  spyware removal programs in that these are very
  specific to a particular threat or types of
  threat and usually run without a whole
  application needing to be installed. These tools
  include virus, worm, Trojan, adware, spyware, and
  rootkit removal tools.
• I could not find statistics as to which tools are
  used the most but from personal experience I most
  commonly use the Symantec Tools and the Microsoft
  Malicious Software Removal Tool that is updated
  every month.
• These tools check computers running Windows
  Vista, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 for
  infections by specific, prevalent malicious
  software that include Blaster, Sasser, and
  Mydoom.
• Seven of the most prevalent threats for which
  there are removal tools include Sasser, Bagle,
  Zafi, Mydoom, Blaster, Klez, and Bugbear.
