I Counted All The _at__at_ Tests!
4
CRCT Overview
  • Students enrolled in grades 1 through 8 will take
    the CRCT.
  • Tests are based on the states GPS/QCC.
  • Tests measure the knowledge and skills taught in
    Georgia classrooms.
  • Students are assessed on how well they have
learned the GPS/QCC content standards for their
    grades.
  • Tests will contain GPS/QCC operational (scored)
and GPS field test (unscored) items.

5
Field Test Questions
  • Unscored field test questions will appear in all
    content areas and grades.
  • Field test questions will help us create a pool
of Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) items for
    future administrations.

6
Field Test Questions
  • Vertical link items will appear in reading and
    ELA.
  • Grade 7 will have physical science field test
    items.
  • Remember field test items are not scored.

7
Content Areas
  • Each content area is divided into two sections.

8
Test Results
  • Individual, class, system, and state test results
will be provided to systems and schools.
  • New for 2006 All 14 day reports will be
available from the secure DOE portal for systems
to download. PL 1 reports for grades 3, 5, and 8
available two days earlier. Email notification.
  • This information is used to diagnose individual
students strengths and weaknesses and to gauge
the quality of education throughout Georgia.

9
Security
  • 8 day test window
  • Security bar codes on all test booklets, Scripted
Examiners Manuals for grades 1 and 2.
  • School Security Checklist
  • Secure material storage before, during, and after
testing, according to the documented procedures.

10
Other Materials
  • Number of forms will vary by grade
  • Grade 1 15
  • Grade 2 17
  • Grade 3 24
  • Grade 4 17
  • Grade 5 22
  • Grade 6 15
  • Grade 7 19
  • Grade 8 22
  • Braille Large Print 1
  • Small group kits 1

11
Since there are a large number of forms
It is very important that the correct form
number is bubbled on the answer document!!
12
Materials Control
  • If a printed label is received for a student
enrolled at the time of testing, it must be used.
  • If the barcode label information is not correct,
    notify the School Test Coordinator.
  • Do not tear, mark, mutilate, or remove the label.
  • The barcode information will override
    hand-bubbled information.
  • If a student is new to the system (without a bar
code), the student demographic information must
    be completed.
  • Remind students NOT to bubble in ANYTHING
    regarding student information!

13
Barcodes
  • If a barcode has not been applied to the student
answer document and the answer document is
unused, the system may destroy the barcode.
  • If a barcode is applied to a student answer
document and the student is absent for the entire
test window or is no longer enrolled, the system
should mark the answer document VOID and return
    it with the nonscorables.
  • DO NOT PLACE LABEL ON TEST OF STUDENT YOU KNOW IS
    NOT IN SCHOOL.

14
Prepare theSetting
  • Materials are to be returned to School Test
Coordinator and locked up at the end of each
    testing day.
  • Remove or cover instructional materials that may
prompt student responses i.e. posters, etc.
  • Arrange seating to promote individual work.
  • Post a sign on the outside of the classroom door
    Testing - Do Not Disturb.

15
Administration
  • Students take one content area per day.
  • Both sections from a single content area are to
be administered on the same day.
  • Grades 1 and 2 - students take stretch breaks or
    lunch break.
  • Grades 3 through 8 - students take stretch breaks.

16
Administration
  • For all grades and all content areas
  • Preparation for testing- Approximately 10-20
    minutes
  • Section one- Approximately 60 minutes
  • Break- Approximately 10 minutes
  • Section two- Approximately 60 minutes

17
About time.
  • Testing should not be discontinued until 45
minutes have passed. If there are students who
are still productively engaged in completing the
section, testing should continue for the full 60
minutes. At the end of 60 minutes, if some
students are still working, an additional 10
    minutes may be provided.

18
Accommodations
  • Accommodations provide access for demonstration
    of achievement
  • Allow participation
  • Do not guarantee proficiency

19
Accommodations
  • Must be required by the student in order to
    participate in the assessment
  • Must already be provided during routine
instruction and assessment in the classroom (both
before and after the state test is administered)

20
Accommodations
  • An accommodation MAY NOT
  • Alter, explain, simplify, paraphrase, or
eliminate any test item, reading passage, writing
    prompt, or choice option
  • Provide verbal or other clues or suggestions that
hint at or give away the correct response to the
    student

21
Administration
  • Passages may be repeated in test booklet if
    questions carry to next page.
  • Grades 3 - 8 Exam Manual - Students may only
underline and/or circle. Ref TCM pg 13 - writing
    in test booklets.
  • Writing in TB means to circle words, underline
key words instead of marking answers and then
    transcribing.
  • Make-up testing-Complete both sections of a
content area on the same day.

22
Testing Irregularities
  • All test administration irregularities must be
reported by examiners to school test coordinator.
