About the Author
My name is Joshua Elliott. I am a sophomore here
at Sam Houston State University from Grapeland
Texas. I am a Kinesiology major with a sports
Medicine emphasis. I am a part of the SHSU sports
medicine team that works with all SHSU athletic
teams. When I get my degree I plan on continuing
my education at Texas Chiropractic Collage in
Pasadena, TX.

The need for Athletic Trainers
  • Who would be the observant person on the field if
    there were no athletic trainers?
  • Who is there to watch for hazards on the playing
    field or surrounding area? example lightning in
    the sky!
  • Who is there to provide first aid to scratches?
  • Who is there to watch for signs of dehydration?
  • Not the coaches
  • They are to worried about the current play!
  • Not the other players
  • They're worried about what the coach and other
    players are saying!
  • Not the parents
  • They are to busy talking to others about there
    child and
  • watching them!

  • These are the 2005-2006 Sam Houston Athletic
    Trainers that works with the SHSU Athletic
    program. With 23 students and Hope Parker as the
    head athletic Trainer. This is the largest team
    this program has seen.

Founded in 1908, Texas Chiropractic College is
the third oldest chiropractic college in the
nation and recognized as one of the very best.
TCC is accredited as a Level V doctoral degree
granting institution by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools. It shares this

such as Baylor College of Medicine and the UT
