Yorkshire Terrier Top Knots
  • Steps to create a beautiful Yorkie top knot.

Press Enter to continue.
2
Step 1
  • Using a rat-tail comb, create a clean part, up
the center of the dogs muzzle.
  • Part the hair on the bridge of your dogs nose,
horizontally (as shown in the picture).
  • Leave a slight V shape in-between the eyes at
    the top-end of the part.

3
Step 2
  • Part the hair from the outside corner of the eye,
back to the center of the head.
  • Be sure to make as straight a line as possible.
The straighter the line, the cleaner your
    topknot will appear.

4
Step 3
  • Make a part across the center back of the head
(from ear-to-ear). Once again, keep it clean!
  • You may have to part it a few times before you
    achieve a completely clean part.

5
Step 4
  • After the part on the middle-of-the-head is
complete. Separate that portion into two even
sections (one in front of the other).
  • These two sections together will become the
    bubble.

6
Step 5
  • To each section spray on the Pure Paws Ultra
Volumizing Spray Gel to achieve maximum volume in
    your bubble.
  • Begin your bubble, by teasing the back portion of
    the part.
  • Once the back is teased, then tease the front
    section of the part.

7
Step 6
  • Now tease both sections together to create one
    bubble.
  • Tease it all the way around the bubble left,
    right front and back.

8
Step 7
  • Smooth out the bubble with a soft horse hair
brush or even a baby brush. The reason for using
such a soft brush is so you dont destroy or
    flatten the bubble.
  • Use the Pure Paws Ultra Volumizing Spray Gel to
keep stray hairs from sticking out of your bubble.

9
Step 8
  • Now tie the topknot up and be sure that the
majority of the volume (teased portion) is at the
    base.
  • While doing this be extra careful not to flatten
    the bubble.

10
Step 9
  • Shape the bottom bubble by pulling the hair
firmly in different directions using the rat-
    tail end of the comb.
  • This is a delicate procedure and the bubble can
    be misshaped easily.

11
Step 10
  • Now anchor the bubble and create a fuller shape.
In order to do this, separate the hair and grab a
small portion from the center back part of the
pony tail (as shown in picture).
  • Pull firmly and repeat Steps 9 and 10 as many
    times as necessary.

12
Step 11
  • Once the bubble is in place now you can work on
the fan. Start by teasing the back part of the
fan (see picture). This will create volume.
  • Be careful not to push down too hard or else the
bubble could be damaged in the process.

13
Step 12
  • After you have acquired the preferred amount of
volume on the fan, fold the teased portion back
and place a rubber band on it to hold it in place
    ( use two if necessary).

14
Step 13
  • Now its time to clean up the bubble and the fan.
To do this spray some Ultra Volumizing
Spray Gel on the rat-tail end of the comb and
smooth over all the loose hairs.
  • After you have the look you want, shield the
dogs eyes and apply a decent amount of the spray
gel or hair spray to hold the topknot in place.
  • One secret of mine is to sprits a little extra
spray at the base of the bubble in the back.

15
Step 14
  • After you are done, apply the bow (carefully and
    slowly) and admire your work.
