Purpose of the Bursary
  • To address disadvantage
  • To benefit the local government system through
    studying the following
  • Commerce, Humanities, Business, Computer
    Science,/ IT, Engineering, Planning,
    Environmental sciences, Community Local
    Development/ rural development Social Science

Eligibility
  • Resident in Co Louth
  • Applying to a recognised 3rd level college
  • Pursuing degree course in a recognised third
    level institution in Ireland and the UK.
  • Going into a 1st year, 3rd level undergraduate
    course
  • Experiencing cumulative disadvantage
  • Bursary cannot be deferred.

  • The existence and severity of a disadvantage that
    may prevent you from studying a particular course
  • The motivation, commitment and disposition to
    benefit from third level education and to
    complete the course of study successfully

Details of the Bursary
  • Two Bursaries of 2,540 each will be awarded in
    each Local Authority area (Six in total) for each
    academic year to a maximum of five years.
  • The bursary is made up of eight equal payments
  • Bursaries cannot normally be deferred.

Award of Bursary
  • Successful candidates will be awarded the bursary
    following an offer of a place in a recognised
    third level educational institution in Ireland.
  • Payment will be made on a monthly basis, can be
    collected at the fees/grants office in the
    college.
