    private beaches. No crucifixes to be worn.
    Alcohol is freely available
  • Several (expensive) 5 hotel beach clubs with
    excellent facilities beaches, pools, tennis,
    squash, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, spa etc. Public
    beaches also available but limited facilities.
    Sailing clubs, diving, dune bashing, golf,
    cricket, rugby . . .

    many designer outlets MS, Debenhams too

    events now being held (e.g. Shostakovitch,
    Cecilia Bartoli in 7 Emirates Palace Hotel)

    events include jazz festival, tennis with
    Murray/Nadal, powerboat championships
  • Unlike Dubai, Abu Dhabi largely unaffected by the
    recession but some private sector expats have
    been laid off
  • Short holidays available to e.g. Kerala / Goa,
    Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Oman. Dubai 1½ hrs
    drive.
